Pep Guardiola wants Erling Haaland at all costs : Fabrizio Romano
It all started late last night. A lot of reports started pouring in about the transfer of Haaland to Manchester City. Many reports have said that the huge salary demand of Haaland has been agreed by City and the transfer is at its final stage. But, it is very hard to believe all of the reports on the web. Most of them are generally not true. I was looking for something from a Tier -1 journalist to be absolutely sure.
David Ornstein from the Athletic had reported on it earlier confirming that the talks are going on and they are in an advanced stage. But he has not provided any concrete update on the deal being finalized like all of the reports in the morning have stated. I was looking for even more confirmation from Fabrizio Romano to know the exact stage of the deal.
Fabrizio Romano has posted a while ago on his channel that the talks are in a very advanced stage and many important people from the club like Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano are involved in the discussions now. He has also stated that Pep Guardiola is very intent on this deal being done. Fabrizio Romano said that Pep Guardiola wants this deal to be done at all costs. This is a very strong message for me.
It seems that missing out on Kane had a much greater effect on Pep Guardiola than all of us have imagined. We all can sing lyrical about the false 9 system, but it is clearly evident now that, Pep knew he would need a striker at some point in the season, specially in close games when teams park the bus. Fabrizio further said City are also targeting a defensive midfielder this summer and hence they want to conclude the Haaland deal as fast as possible.
Nothing is done yet between Haaland and City but the talks are said to be at a very advanced stage and we have to wait for the next few days to see whether the deal will be completed or not.
